Crafting for Life 2012

I really wanted to do more to help with this event but family illness and care for sick family members was priority.  I am thankful that I was able to help with setting up some things at church and announcements for Women's Bible Study.  The event will be in the same local as last year, next door to Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, California.  For more information, or to register online, visit us at www.crafting-for-life.blogspot.com or email us at craftingforlife@yahoo.com

Devotional Day: The Golden Lampstand in the Tabernacle

Last weekend we had an prayerful worship journey through the Tabernacle at my church.  There were several gifted teachers.  This morning's devotion in the One Year Bible was Numbers 8:1- 9:23
The first item I noticed was the Golden Lampstand.  It was to light an area in front of the lampstand.  D.K. one of our teachers this past weekend made an excellent point, if you shine the light backwards you cannot see where you are going.  Light illumines in a pattern that is forward so we can see where we are going.  Our hearts and lives are to be a reflection of His light.  The result of the light shining forth is so men can see our good works and glorify God.  These good works are not our but His, we are conduit of blessing to others.  Look forward not backward.  Let the Light of Christ shine forth.

Outreach Crafting

Tomorrow I meet with some other crafters at church and make a magnet made up of a gathered "yo-yo" , some people call these "fabric flowers".  My mom showed me how to make them.  We have several different fabrics, some plastic gems for a little bling, sparkly black felt for the backing and sticky back magnets.  We will be attaching a light chain with a feather on the end.  I hope hot glue will adhere to the chain.  We will be creating part of a gift for high school girls who will come to the outreach.  Some of the ladies will be doing nails, I will probably do face painting or bracelet making for the younger kids.  We are blessed to have so many creative people at our church!  I hope the scripture verse and CD will bless the girls who receive it.

Crafting for Life event on Saturday

I went to my first all day crafting event.  It was so much fun.  I made baby announcements and enjoyed fellowship with  friends.  I tried to crochet but my wrist hurt and I felt pretty awkward when my hand stiffened up.  I really liked to see what others were working on.  The quilters were working on quilted baby bags and fabric burpers, the scrapbookers were catching up on their family pages, one jewelry maker was creating sparkly wire crochet masterpieces, and one of my friends was painting a lovely flower.  It was inspiring to be around so many creative people!  I won some lovely flowered accents and papers in the raffle and I tried my hand at designing a "make and take" acrylic frame.  I almost burned my fingers on the embossing blower.  It was hard to keep the flowers from  blowing away.  One of the event sponsors offered a percentage off at her scrapbook store and so I did a little shopping.  We had a tour of the Crisis Pregnancy Center and learned about the services they provide.  The director was warm, cordial and answered all our questions.  It was a blessed day!  It reminded me of Ladies' Retreat at the hotsprings.
